The following graph compares the price per hour for on-demand compute instances on Catalyst Cloud and the Sydney regions of Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
This graph uses a multiple linear regression to normalise and compare the price per hour of the general purpose compute instances across different cloud providers. It attempts to answer the question "If every cloud provider offered the same size compute instances, how expensive would they be?".
Please note that this comparison is limited to on-demand compute only. When people use the cloud, they often contract more services (such as storage, network data transfer) that affect their prices. For a more comprehensive comparison, we recommend using the cost calculator of each cloud provider to generate more precise estimates.
For transparency, we have published the source code and a Jupyter notebook explaining how this price comparison is made. If you believe this information is incorrect or can be improved, please contact us or submit a pull request.
