Catalyst Cloud spins off into a new company

New Zealand’s most advanced public cloud has been spun off into a new company.

Catalyst announced today that the Catalyst Cloud will now be managed by Catalyst Cloud Ltd, part of the wider Catalyst IT Group.

“Uptake of the Catalyst Cloud over the last two years has driven significant growth, and the time is right to separate it from Catalyst.NET into its own company.

“This will ensure the focus of the team will solely be on maintaining and extending New Zealand’s first API-driven public cloud,” said Don Christie, Managing Director at Catalyst.

The Catalyst Cloud is now used across the private and public sectors, and has been particularly attractive to startups and other innovators looking to leverage the flexibility that true cloud computing provides.

“Over the last three years we have built the foundation services of cloud computing and made them available via three cloud regions in New Zealand.

“Now we will be focussing on building on that base, and delivering more features in quicker iteration cycles. We want to repay the market’s faith in us by continuing to give kiwi businesses access to innovative and disruptive cloud services onshore,” said Bruno Lago, General Manager Catalyst Cloud.
