First OpenStack Australia Day
9 May, 2016
Catalyst was very happy to attend and be part of Australia's first OpenStack Day in Sydney on May 5th.
Thanks to the great work by Aptira in organising this event. And with over 300 participants it was clear that there is a great buzz in the Australian market around OpenStack for the enterprise.
With a keynote from Executive Director of the OpenStack Foundation Jonathan Bryce and presentations from both government and corporate OpenStack community members, there was something to gain for everyone who is interested in what OpenStack can do for their organisation.
Catalyst Solutions Architect and OpenStack expert Bruno Lago gave a great presentation on Things You MUST Know Before Deploying OpenStack, sharing some of Catalyst's knowledge from our experience building and maintaining New Zealand's best true cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering, the Catalyst Cloud.
It was also great to see Catalyst clients from the National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources project (Nectar) participating in OpenStack Day. Nectar are leading the way in the application of OpenStack as a research cloud, allowing researchers to connect with colleagues in Australia and around the world. Ultimately contributing to better collective knowledge.
Catalyst extends thanks once again to all those that participated, and we look forward to more such events in Australia.
