General purpose virtual servers for common workloads

Compute C3 virtual servers are suitable for most workloads, from production to development and testing. They feature high performance CPUs with balanced RAM configurations, all fully reserved and not shared between VMs. They are the best choice for production workloads due to their predictable behavior, performance, and reliability.

Note: These virtual servers are currently only available in the "nz-por-1" region. Other regions are expected later in 2025.

Compute C3 Features

Intel Xeon 'Sapphire Rapids' Processors

C3 virtual servers are powered by Intel Xeon Platinum 'Sapphire Rapids' CPUs, providing modern CPU instructions such as AVX512-FP16 vector processing, and AMX for matrix processing used in AI/ML inferencing on CPUs. Fully supported by modern 64-bit x86 operating systems.

Fully dedicated resources

Virtual CPUs and memory are fully reserved and never shared with another VM, no oversubscription and no sharing of caches or execution. Virtual CPUs are "pinned" to specific physical CPUs to ensure low latency in execution.

Broad Virtual Server Sizing

Compute C3 covers sizing from 4 to 96 vCPU, with a consistent amount of memory per vCPU over the whole range.

High-speed Networking

All Compute C3 virtual servers have access to 25GBit/s networking, and benefit from all the features of our Networking services including Security Groups.

Billed By The Hour

All Compute C3 virtual servers are billed on an hourly basis, pay for what you use and you're not locked into long term commitments. Shelve unused servers and pay no compute charges, able to be unshelved to be used when needed.

Windows Images

Compute C3 virtual servers using Windows images available via Catalyst Cloud, using bundled license and supported by Silicon Systems. These prices apply only to Windows OS images, not images that include SQL Server in any edition.

Windows Images with SQL Server Web Edition

Windows OS and SQL Server Web Edition images are provided and supported by Silicon Systems. The license bundled with these images is charged on the number of vCPU the C1 instance has, in increments of 2 vCPU, with a minimum of 4 vCPU charged, at $0.0339 per 2 vCPU per hour, in addition to the Windows Image charges above.

For example, a c3.c4r16 SQL Web image is charged $0.5165 for this instance with a Windows OS license per hour and a further $0.0678 per hour for SQL Server Web Edition licenses, for a total of $0.5843 per hour excluding GST.

Note: No discounts apply to the license part of these charges. These images are not supported by Catalyst Cloud, support is provided by Silicon Systems. There are minimum vCPU and RAM requirements for SQL Server Web Edition which need to be met, you will be charged even if the size you have chosen does not meet SQL Web Edition's minimum sizes.
